Lecturer (Chinese Section)

SCHOOL OF LANGUAGE, LITERATURE AND PERFORMING ARTS

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the confirmation path position of Lecturer in Chinese within the School of Language, Literature and Performing Arts. Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in both Modern Standard Chinese and English, and experience in teaching Modern Standard Chinese at tertiary level. Ability to lecture fluently in English is essential. In addition, candidates should have a completed PhD in an area of Chinese language, literature, or culture (including Chinese film).

The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching courses in Chinese language and civilisation at undergraduate level, in the first instance. The appointee will also be expected to pursue research in the area of his or her expertise.

The salary range for a Lecturer is NZ$45,000-NZ$55,500 per annum.

Appointment will be at an appropriate step in this range depending on qualifications and experience. It is hoped the successful applicant will be able to assume responsibilities on 1 July 2000.
