Chinese language and linguistics
The National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for faculty positions in Chinese language and linguistics in the Department of Chinese Studies (http://www.fas.nus.edu.sg/chs/). Chinese Language and Chinese Studies are two major modules offered by the Department. In academic year 2000/2001, nearly 400 undergraduates read modules in Chinese Language. We seek specialists in Classical and/or Modern Chinese with a strong commitment to both teaching and research. Applicants must possess a doctorate degree upon appointment. Successful candidates will be appointed as Assistant Professors or equivalent grades. They are expected to teach courses, conduct research and supervise MA/Ph.D. students. They will teach undergraduate and graduate students, who have had about 12 years of formal Chinese learning in school, Chinese language and linguistics. The ability to teach in English is an added advantage. The appointment commences on January 2, 2002.
