CLASS/MaFLA Summer Immersion Program for K-12 Chinese Teachers

August 10-12, 2001

All K-12 Chinese language teachers are cordially invited to attend a summer Chinese teacher immersion program on August 10-12, 2001 at Bay Path College in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. This summer professional development program is jointly sponsored by the Chinese Language Association of Secondary-Elementary Schools (CLASS) and Massachusetts Foreign Language Association (MaFLA). The workshop will be held in conjunction with the MaFLA summer immersion programs for teachers of Chinese, French, and Spanish. The theme of the Chinese immersion program will be focused on how to develop standards-based thematic model lessons. Dr. Yu-lan Lin, President of MaFLA, will conduct a workshop on standards-based assessments. Chinese language teaching specialists from China will be invited to present effective ways to teach Chinese characters. Workshop on instructional technologies and other Chinese cultural activities will be offered as well.
