Event Summary
Camp Objectives:
| To enhance the participant’s understanding of Chinese culture, and to improve their mandarin speaking and reading skills. | |
| To give youths the enthusiasm to undertake the great commission by exposing them to the people and history of China, thus allowing them to realise the need for the Gospel in the Asian community. |
Camp Date: 24 June 2002 – 18 July 2002 (4 weeks in total)

Mandarin Language Course
Course Description:
|
Participants are split into different classes based on their language ability. Each class contains 8 students. Every class has 3 lessons per day, which combine to 60 lessons in total. |

The purpose of the course is to improve the language skills of the participants in terms of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. |
|
|
Mandarin will be the main language used during the camp, therefore creating an excellent learning environment. |
|
|
Participants are expected to complete course work set by teachers. |
|
|
Participants that have fulfilled the course requirements will receive a certificate of completion. |

| Beginner –Practical Audio-Visual Chinese(1), Speak Chinese(1) | |
| Intermediate ––Practical Audio-Visual Chinese(2), Taiwan Today, Speak Chinese (2), Practical News Reading Guide | |
| Advanced ––Practical Audio-Visual Chinese (3), Cogitation & Society, News Media, Magazines. |

Chinese Culture Experience| Through the activities and programmes arranged for this camp, participants will be able to learn the differences between eastern and western cultures, and realise beauty of our Chinese heritage. | |
| Participants will the taught various traditional folk arts, such as, Tai Chi, Chinese calligraphy, traditional toys, sand bags, pottery, paper sculpture, kite making, spinning tops, Chinese origami etc. | |
| Numerous physical activities are provided every afternoon. These activities include aerobics, tennis, bowling, volleyball, basketball, swimming etc. | |
| Concerts, Chinese Opera, and folk dance performances have been arranged for this camp. |

Taiwan Experience| Participants will visit university campuses, churches, and historical monuments in Taiwan. | |
| Participants will be taken on a tour of Taiwan to visit its most important sights and sounds. | |
| By helping the participants to understand the socio-economic development of Taiwan, we hope to make them realise the challenges and the needs of the Taiwanese ministry. |
Application Requirement:
Applicants must be overseas Chinese youths, between the ages of 15 to 25,
whom are recommended by their local church representative.
Application Deadline:
Application closes on 20 March 2002
Cost: US $1500. This fee includes accommodation, food, language course, transportation during the camp, and activity costs. (Airfares are not included). For two or more applicants from the same family, the camp fee is US $1400 per person.
2002 Camp for the Exchange of Academia across the Taiwanese Strait
"A Journey to Seek Our Chinese Cultural Roots"
Event Summary
This camp will take between 20th July 2002 and 30th July 2002
in mainland China. It is organised jointly by Chung Yuan Christian University of
Taiwan, the Harbin Institute of Technology, and the Teacher Training College of
North China
Trip Itinerary
Cultural exchange seminars will be held at the, and the Harbin Institute of
Technology and the Teacher Training College of North China. Trip itinerary will
include visits to scenery sites such as Songhua Rive, and Mount Changbai ;
visits to Shenyang historical monuments, as well as The Imperial Palace and the
residence of General Zhangxueliang; Participants can also witness the
development of ocean side cities. The entire camp will last for 10 days.
Costs:
US $1200 (includes return airfare from Taiwan to China, food,
accommodation, and other costs). For those that enrol in both "A Journey
to Seek our Chinese Cultural Roots", and "Living in an
Evangelical Environment" camps, the total cost is reduced at US
$2600 per person.
