Position in Modern Chinese Language and Literature

The Chinese Department at Reed College invites applications for a tenure-track position in modern Chinese Language and Literature at the Assistant Professor level to begin the Fall 2001. Reed College is a small, highly selective undergraduate institution with an emphasis on excellence in teaching and scholarship. We seek candidates who have a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level. Candidates should be able to teach Chinese language at all levels from beginning to advanced, offer courses in modern Chinese literature, participate in the team-taught Chinese Humanities course, and advise Chinese major theses. Candidates must have native- or near native fluency in both Chinese & English, and the Ph.D. in hand or near completion in modern Chinese literature or related field.
