Assistant Professor in Chinese Linguistics

The University of Colorado at Boulder, Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Chinese Linguistics. Applicants should have expertise in both Chinese language pedagogy and historical linguistics, be capable of teaching modern Chinese at any level, and have experience working with and supervising graduate teaching assistants. Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in Chinese linguistics, language pedagogy or second language acquisition, a familiarity with current theories of language pedagogy and the applications of technology, teaching experience, and fluency in both Chinese (Mandarin) and English. Ability to teach Taiwanese or Cantonese a plus. Responsibilities will include teaching two courses per semester, coordinating the Chinese language program, and participating in curriculum development. Applicants should send a letter of application, CV, 3 letters of recommendation, sample syllabi, copies of relevant publications, and a statement of teaching philosophy. A sample videotape demonstrating language teaching ability is encouraged.
