Chinese Language, Literature and Culture

Assistant Professor of Chinese. Tenure track, to begin Fall quarter, 2002. Ph.D. in hand by June, 2002. We are seeking candidates with a strong interest in undergraduate teaching, particularly language classes and some other courses in Chinese culture and literature - a total of 6-7 courses per year. The successful candidate must possess native or near-native fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English, have relevant teaching experience and a research agenda. The position also involves playing a leading role in the expansion of the Asian Studies program, including the development of a study-abroad program, and service to the department and the university, including advising.
