Chinese Language and Literature

Washington and Lee University invites applicants for a tenure-track position in Chinese Language and Literature at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin September, 2002. Review of applications begins January 1st, 2002. The candidate must have a completed doctorate by Sept. 2002, native or near-native fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English, and a well-defined research agenda. Relevant prior experience in teaching and interest in technology are highly desirable, as are ability and commitment to teach all levels of Chinese language, literature in translation and culture. Degree in Chinese literature is preferred. The appointee will also play a major role in the Chinese program, the study-abroad programs and the East Asian Studies program. Candidates should address their interest in teaching in an undergraduate, liberal-arts environment that emphasizes close faculty-student interaction.
