The Department of African and Asian Languages and Literatures, University of Florida, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Chinese Language and Literature, beginning August 2003. Specialization in pre-modern fiction or drama, any period from Tang through mid-Qing. Preference for candidates whose textual research integrates visual media, performance, and / or cultural studies. Rank at the Assistant or Associate level, depending on qualifications. Ph.D. and teaching experience by time of appointment are required, as well as native or near-native proficiency in Chinese and English, and the ability to contribute to the intellectual life of a growing program in East Asian Languages and Cultures. Teaching assignment of 2-2 includes a seminar or readings course in the specialty. Salary competitive.
