Chinese Language and Culture

The Department of Chinese and Japanese, Grinnell College, invites applications for a one-year replacement position in Chinese Language and Culture for the academic year 2003–04. Assistant Professor (Ph.D.) preferred, Instructor (ABD) considered. Ability and commitment to teach all levels of Chinese language and literature/culture in translation and native or near-native competence in both Chinese and English required. Area of specialization open; pre-modern literature/culture preferred. Teaching schedule includes five courses over two semesters. In their letters of application, candidates should address their interest in developing as a teacher and scholar in an undergraduate, liberal-arts environment that emphasizes close faculty-student interaction and values diversity.
