Tenure-track position in classical Chinese literature and language, in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures. The appointment will be at the rank of assistant professor, starting in 2000-2001. At the time of appointment, applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chinese literature or related field, with an emphasis on Chinese letters from the Zhou to Song dynasties. Duties will include teaching courses in classical language and bibliography; undergraduate literature surveys; graduate courses in literary history; and specialized graduate seminars. The Department especially welcomes applicants interested in contributing to interdisciplinary initiatives and in facilitating international scholarly dialogue. The Department has one of the largest graduate programs in the country and a vibrant and active scholarly environment with strong ties to other departments in the University and beyond.
