Lecturer in Chinese Language
The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of California, Berkeley has an opening for a Lecturer in Chinese Language, appointment up to 100% time depending on departmental needs, effective July 1, 2001, for one year, with the possibility of extension. The minimum annual salary is $32,916.00; salary commensurate with experience. Responsibilities include: teaching or co-teaching of several sections of first-year, second-year, or third-year Chinese language, or a combination thereof; supervising Graduate Student Instructors; compiling teaching materials. Requirements: native or near-native fluency in Chinese; a good command of English; M.A. in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Linguistics, or Second Language Acquisition; minimum of three years of experience in teaching Chinese at the college level (other than Teaching Assistant experience); computer skills (familiarity with computer assisted language teaching methods highly desirable).
