The Department of African and Asian Languages and Literatures, University of Florida, invites applications for a new tenure-track position in Chinese Language and Literature, to begin August 2001. Assistant Professor rank, specialization in Chinese fiction of any period. Interdisciplinary approaches to literary research will be favorably considered; also, expertise in film, cultural studies, or other theoretical orientations that articulate verbal and visual culture. Teaching duties in area of specialization and in language. Qualifications include Ph.D. by time of appointment, native/near-native proficiency in Chinese and English, and the ability to contribute to the intellectual life of a growing program in East Asian Languages and Literatures and Asian Studies.
