Faculty Position
(Chinese Linguistics)

The Division of Humanities provides a wide range of general education to undergraduates and advanced training in MA, MPhil and PhD degree programs in China-related humanities studies.

Applications are invited for an academic appointment in Chinese linguistics at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2001. Candidates must have a PhD degree and specialize in Chinese historical phonology and dialectology. Candidates will be required to teach three courses per year at the undergraduate and graduate levels, pursue active research, and contribute to the development of a vigorous graduate program.

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental schemes, and assistance in housing where applicable. Initial appointment will normally be on a three-year contract. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract. Re-appointment will be subject to mutual agreement.
