Chinese Language and Humanities
Kalamazoo College invites applications for a two-year (renewable for a total of 3 years) position in Chinese language and humanities to begin in the fall of 2002. This is one of several positions the College seeks to fill in its growing Asian Studies program. Teaching responsibilities will be divided between Chinese language or literature and humanities courses in Chinese studies. Other courses may include but are not limited to art history, culture, history, linguistics, music, philosophy, or theater. Familiarity with the use of information technology in language instruction is a plus. Native/near native fluency in Chinese and English is required. Candidates are expected to have high aptitude for and interest in undergraduate teaching, a commitment to the liberal arts, and a desire to involve undergraduates in scholarship both in and out of the classroom. PhD (or evidence of imminent completion) required. Salary competitive and consistent with experience.
