Professor of Chinese Language Pedagogy
Position open: (pending university approval)Applications for this opening are invited for an appointment beginning August 1, 2000. Teaching duties include 3 courses at the graduate level plus supervision of MA theses. Ranks are open (assistant, associate or full professor) and salaries plus benefits (inclusive of national health coverage and retirement) are government-standardised. A Ph.D is requried and preferences are given to the fields of language education, applied or general linguistics.
The institute (a graduate program) was established 5 years ago with an aim to train high quality teachers of modern Chinese/Mandarin. The dept has 4 full-time faculty members (Prof. Yeh Tehming is retiring the end of July, 2000) and a number of part-time professors. Graduate students (12 regualar, 6 in-service and 4 foreign per year) must complete 36 semester credits, teaching practicum and an M.A. thesis over a period of 2-4 years.
