Assistant Professor of Chinese

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures invites applications for a tenurestream position as assistant professor of Chinese, to teach language at all levels, a core-curriculum course on China, and one or more courses in the applicant's area of specialization. The successful candidate will also direct in rotation a semester-long study-abroad program in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and The People's Republic of China, and participate in the full range of faculty responsibilities, including advising, service on committees, and productive scholarly research. A Ph.D. in Chinese literature or a related field and college-level teaching experience are preferred; native or near-native command of both Chinese and English are required. The normal teaching load is five courses per year. Salary and benefits are very competitive.
