Brown University, Providence, RI 02912. The Department of East Asian Studies seeks one or more lecturers of Chinese language. These three-year appointments are renewable and will begin July 1, 1999. M.A. degree, or the equivalent, required. Native or near-native fluency in Chinese (Mandarin), competency in spoken and written English. Candidates must have experience teaching Chinese language to English-speaking students at the college level. Experience directing Chinese language courses, and experience developing language teaching materials for the teaching of Chinese to English-speaking college students are also highly desirable.
