FIVE MAJOR CHANGES: Although the ZSP was established with an international perspective, most of the participants so far are from the United States and Great Britain partly because the only official departure point for the program is in the U.S. To encourage participation from other countries, five major changes have been initiated and become effective starting January 1st, 2000. (1) There will be a point of departure in each of the following countries: United States (L.A.), Canada (Vancouver), Great Britain (London) and Australia (Sydney). (2) All applications will be handled by the ZSP Coordinator in Hong Kong, Ms. Weihua Hu, who will also be responsible for all ZSP-related administrative work. (3) All important ZSP decisions will be made in China based on recommendations from ZSP Senior Advisors and Prof. Jianzhuang Fang, who will be the new ZSP Director. (4) As the ZSP Founding Director, Dr. Weiping Wu will serve as a Senior Advisor to the program and work with other Advisors to ensure that the program fulfils its original mission. (5) The ZSP will be operating as an independent program and will no longer be part of WCCEC.
